Rajjaprabha Dam
Rajjaprabha Dam is a huge multi-purpose dam in the middle of Khao Sok National Park in Surat Thani. This rock-filled dam with clay core, built over the course of five years, was completed back in 1987. With a capacity of 5,639 million cubic meters, this dam retains rainfalls, distributes water for irrigations, provides a breathtaking scenic space, generates electricity, and is also a vast natural fishery. The whole place is run by the Electricity Generating Authority of Thailand (EGAT) and offers accommodations, along with about twenty other private operators, for both day and overnight trips. There are over a dozen different floating bungalow operators dotted around Cheow Larn Lake. The floating bungalows vary in price and levels of comfort, but all provide a unique opportunity to sleep in the quiet wilderness and wake up to gorgeous views.

Khao Sok National Park
Khao Sok National Park is a rainforest with a great biodiversity of flora and fauna. It is the most popular national park on the mainland in South Thailand. The main attractions of Khao Sok are Cheow Larn Lake, its wildlife, iconic limestone hills, waterfalls, raft houses spreading over the lake, trails, caves and rivers. Other activities which will give you the experience of a lifetime are close and personal elephant encounters, jungle trekking on foot, and canoeing. Another highlight of this jungle excursion is viewing the largest flower in the world, called “Dok Bua Phud” (Rafflesia), which can reach up to one meter in diameter and weigh up to nine kilos. Taking nine months to fully bloom, they only last for four to five days. The best time to catch a glimpse of this amazing flora is between November to January.
